Our Top 5 Self care Tips

January has felt like a very long month for all involved, so here at Proskins, we’ve been asking around to find the best tips for beating those wintery blues and taking care of yourself.

1. Go outdoors!

This one is thrown around time and time again, but there really is no beating fresh air and green space! Even if time is limited (and weather is restricting) getting outside for as little as 5 minutes every day can give you that boost you need.

So go on, wander around your garden, visit a local garden centre, go for a run, take the dog on the walk you’ve been promising! I can guarantee you’ll feel better for it!

2. Have a chat!

One of the best and easiest pick me ups can often come from those who know us best! Grab your phone, write a letter, pop over to see them and just have a good old catch up with a friend or family member. A good belly laugh is bound to make you feel rejuvenated.

3. Get back into an old hobby or learn something new!

Finding something that makes you feel happy and takes the worries of the day away for even a short while is key to self-care. Remember how you felt when you used to cycle, run, play tennis, make dresses, go dancing, play football? Well why not give it another go? Challenging yourself to reunite with a former hobby or even take the plunge and learn something completely different can give you a new found freedom. Take that time just to focus on you! Find whatever it is that inspires you and run with it.

4. Take some time out!

Increasingly life seems to be getting busier and busier. Quite often some of the best ways to indulge in a little self-care is to slow it all down. Run yourself a bath, light a candle, get lost in that book you’ve been wanting to read for the past month, paint your nails, relax with a face mask, put on your comfiest clothes.

The list is endless. Schedule time for yourself into your weekly planner and don’t compromise it. Enjoy your little escape and you’ll definitely feel better for it.

5. Put down your phone!

It’s so easy to get into the habit of filling free time with endless scrolling. Invest this time in yourself, and forget about your phone for a while. It’ll still be there when you come back!
