Anti-Cellulite Treatments

We've evaluated some of the best cellulite treatments available right now and this is our verdict!

Body brush in bath

Body brushing

Dry body brushing is exactly how it sounds – you brush your skin with a stiff bristled brush, ideally before showering it. It is an aesthetic treatment for cellulite however it is argued to have lots of different benefits – one of which is reducing the appearance of cellulite. It is important to emphasize that this treatment will not completely get rid of cellulite but it mobilises and contributes to the even distribution of fat deposits under the skin to reduce that orange peel effect. One of the most important things about this treatment is that it requires consistency – ideally brushing once a day for anywhere between 2 and 4 minutes. The cost for this treatment isn’t excessive – anywhere between £5 and £55 depending on the quality of the brush.

Body Wraps

Body wraps can be both a home treatment or carried out in a spa. They consist of a wrap made from a bandage like material that soaked in special compounds such as mineral, vitamins and herbs. This wrap is then tied tightly around the area you want to target – not great if you’re claustrophobic. Initially the action may shrink you down a size however, this doesn’t necessarily mean it will reduce the appearance of cellulite. This treatment is widely known as a temporary measure and results often fade quickly.

Cellfina

This is a much more invasive treatment and involves a needle like device to cut some of the fibrous but it is considerably more expensive at roughly £3,000 per treatment.

Velashape

This treatment is less invasive than Cellfina and uses infrared light, radio frequency and massage with suction to increase lymphatic drainage. It is proven to reduce the size of fat cells and fat chambers, however, you only start to see results after 4 initial treatments and then it is recommended that you continue treatment once every 3 months and at roughly £700 per treatment – not the most affordable solution.

Anti-Cellulite Creams

The most successful cellulite creams contain caffeine which is said to dehydrate fat cells and make them appear less prominent. There is also evidence to suggest they work by promoting lipolysis (the breakdown of fat), stimulating collagen and increasing blood flow. However, even if you do find a cream that works for you results are often temporary and a quick fix. The process of finding a cream that works can also be expensive as not every cream works for everyone – they range in price from around £10 - £150 each and need replacing roughly every month if used regularly.

Proskins Slim

Did you know that just by wearing a pair of leggings you can visibly reduce the appearance of cellulite? Proskins Slim are made from clinically proven cellulite busting fabric. They contain all natural active ingredients which are micro-encapsulated in the yarns of the fabric. These ingredients are caffeine; to supercharge your circulation, retinol; to kickstart collagen formation, Vitamin E; to help protect the skin and Ceramides; to improve the skins barrier giving a firmer, plumper effect.   Results have shown huge visible results in the reduction of the appearance of cellulite and inch loss on target areas such as the stomach and thighs – and all you have to do is put them on! These leggings cost  £59.95 and all the ingredients last for at least 100 washes. They are also finished with a silver antibacterial treatment which keeps them fresher for longer, meaning that they don’t need to be washed as often as an average pair of leggings!
