Top Tips for Goal Setting

It’s that time of year again when everyone is setting and finalising their goals for the coming year.

It’s important to note that this is a very personal thing and the decision of whether to set yourself specific goals is completely your own.

If this is something that interests you, we’ve collected our top tips for goal setting and listed them below!

1. Think about why you are setting each individual goal

Having a strong motivation behind each of the goals you set yourself will make them much easier to stick to and give you something to focus on if you are struggling.

2. Be Realistic

Trying to do too much too soon can end up having a negative effect on your motivation. Break larger goals down into smaller, more manageable chunks which are much more realistic to achieve.

3. Think about what you want

It is very easy to feel pressurised into setting goals because it feels like the right thing to do. Set goals that you resonate with and you’re 100% more likely to stick to them.

4. Think Long Term

Your January goals will provide motivation but forming a habit is the best way to keep going for the rest of the year. It takes roughly 66 days for a habit to be ingrained – but this can vary!

5. Make Yourself Accountable

Whether you write your goals down, confide in a friend of both – having them out in the open can be the extra bit of motivation you need.
